Pipeline Appeal Denied

At a hearing on May 31, the Port Orford City Council affirmed the Planning Commission’s decision to approve a pump station and pipeline alternatives for the as-yet-unbuilt golf course north of the city. The vote was four to 1 in favor, with Caroline Clancy voting NO.

The proceedings were marred when a male councilor responded to a statement by Councilor Clancy with a gross insult. Many of those present were outraged, and a letter in support of Clancy that was signed by 40 citizens was presented to the council in short order. Letters to the editor of the Port Orford News deploring the insult were published on June 7.
